Dear Zoe, you are right, especially on the fact that we can not so simple eliminate to select just goods packed well and sustainable. This is why we have started with INDUSTRIAL UPCYCLING in factories of our clients, because is more efficient. AT the same time we have to get rid of the 3R - which is fact is just part of the truth and one of the reason more and more waste is being generated.
We have to extend and follow up 6R - 1) RECOGNIZE, 2) RECONSIDER, 3) REALIZE, 4) REDUCE, 5) REUSE, 6) RECYCLE - this is one of the key points in changing the mindset of every single person on this planet.

I hope we will be able to discuss and cooperate more, for our activities and projects visit our website please - www.ibcsd.biz

wish you efficient working week and the year free of waste and wasting in all its forms

In reply to <a href="https://www.bioenergyconsult.com/future-of-waste/#comment-5036">Michael Rada</a>.

Thanks for your comments Michael. I completely agree that waste prevention / reduction is THE most important step, and yes it was perhaps an obvious omission from my article.
In my opinion, Extended Producer Responsibility is vital - businesses generating non-recyclable waste need to be held to account and made to pay for the management of that waste.
We will not be able to entirely eliminate single-use packaging. As such, there is a lot of opportunity for people to identify new uses for these abundant materials and this is an area I think will only grow. It needs to, as waste amounts are (sadly) not reducing.
Thanks again for your feedback.
