There are three main reasons for that. First, the limited fuel reserves will require the development of alternative sources of fuel in the future. Secondly, biofuels are needed to reduce the green house effects generated from fossil fuel combustion that cause climate change. Thirdly, biofuels provide cleaner combustion resulting in lower emission of SOx and NOx due to its high oxygen content, lower nitrogen content, and trace amount of sulfur.
